Mondays:
ANEW
This group incorporates exercise, stress reduction, and psycho-education as a way to foster motivation and improve the mood of students experiencing depression.
Time: Monday 3:00pm-5:00pm,
Location: 249 Student Services Building, 355-8270.

Graduate Women of Color Group
This is a four week series to discuss wellness issues unique to graduate woman of color.  Topics will focus on: coping with life’s ups and downs through self-care; managing graduate school; and understanding issues of class and race, for example the community of color’s perceptions of you as an academic. *Pre-group screening required. 
Time: Monday 6/8 – 6/29, 3:30-5pm
Location: Room 207 Student Services Building.

Mind and Body Connections: Women’s Sexual Concerns
This workshop is designed to educate and provide a forum for women to talk about sexual health. No screening necessary.
Time: The workshop is the third Monday of each month, June 15, July 20, and August 17, 4-6 pm,
Location: Room 245 Student Services Building.
Facilitator: Tawa Sina, Ph.D.

Tuesdays:
Hurt and Hope: Being in Relationships
This short-term (4 sessions) therapy group will assist participants address concerns and problems they are experiencing in their family, friendships, and/or romantic relationships.  (This is not a couples or social anxiety group).  The maximum number of participants will be eight (8). 
Time: Tuesday from 4-6 pm
Location: Room 249, Student Services Building

Changing Emotions You Want To Change
This five week skills development group helps students learn effective strategies to channel emotions into positive outlets. A screening is required for group enrollment and can be arranged by contacting John Taylor at 355-8270. The “Changing Emotions You Want To Change” group will run five consecutive sessions.
Time: 5-6:30 pm

Wednesdays:
Hope & Healing
Hope & Healing is a wellness group for survivors of sexual assault or abuse. Sexual violence can impact every aspect of a person’s life resulting in academic, social, emotional, and spiritual losses. The purpose of this group is to provide an emotionally safe place for women to discuss the impact of sexual violence in their lives. This is a four-session group that will: explore the stages of healing from trauma; provide discussion and activities to increase self-esteem ; explore challenges in re-establishing trust and healthy boundaries in relationships; learn healthy coping strategies for depression and/or anxiety.

Time: 3:00 to 4:30 pm Meets June 3, June 10, June 17 and June 24

Addictive Behaviors Group
This is a therapy group for individuals who are struggling with addictive behaviors.  This group begins by serving individuals, who have alcohol or other drug related issues, but includes and welcomes individuals who are dealing with other forms of addictive behaviors, (gambling, internet).  A variety of approaches will be used, including processes from the modalities of Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, The Twelve Steps, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness Based applications.
Time: 3:00 to 4:30 pm

Thursdays:
Grief Recovery Group

The Grief Recovery Group is for members of the MSU student community who are experiencing difficulties in handling the death of a loved one. Group goals: (1) normalize the experience of bereavement using psycho-education about grief and experiential exercises, (2) provide support for students who have experienced a recent death or loss in their life, and (3) provide a safe place for students to talk about their feelings regarding their recent loss.
Topics will include normal grief, dimensions of grief, fears related to loss, and coping strategies.
*Pre-group interview required.
Time: 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.,

Mindful Pathways to Wellness

Are you feeling stressed out? Overwhelmed? Mindful Pathways to Wellness teaches how mindfulness techniques can be used to cope with life’s challenges and enhance well-being. Participants will learn how to use relaxation, imagery, and other strategies to reduce their stress, cope with life’s difficulties and depression, and improve their overall functioning.  
Time: 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Location: Room 310 Olin Health Center

General Therapy Group

This is an interpersonal therapy group and will primarily serve undergraduate students, who with alarming frequency come to the Counseling Center identifying significant friendship or peer group problems.  This group operates from the premise that depression, anxiety, and low self esteem are often caused or worsened by disconnection in interpersonal relationships, both past and present.

The results are far reaching and include negative impacts upon mood and overall outlook, and also negatively impact motivation and academic functioning.  This group will feature interpersonal group process, and will provide facilitation for healthy self identity and self esteem development.
